Reading Room x FILTER event at Bar Neiro

Reading Room has always been about bringing people together through a shared love of reading and it will always be an an open, welcoming and connecting space. Last week we gathered at the beautiful Bar Neiro, tucked in Kreuzberg’s back yards, though the mood was heavier than usual after the shocking and heartbreaking news that broke the night before. We felt it was important to open our doors regardless, offering comfort and community to anyone who wanted to sit with others.

For this collaborative edition, Annabel from Yoshi en welcomed everyone with a lovely cold-brew tea, while Heiko Hofmann, founder of Filter, prepared the music for the afternoon. We settled into our books for a session of silent reading, accompanied by two beautiful albums: Through the Looking Glass by Midori Takada and Space 1.8 by Nala Sinephro. With a smaller group than usual and the dim and rainy summer afternoon, this edition felt especially intimate.

Throughout the silent reading, we tasted a selection of Yoshi en’s Japanese and Chinese teas while listening to Heiko’s music picks through Bar Neiro’s beautiful vintage Altec speakers. The sound was so clear, which made the music feel much more present than in our usual set-ups.

It was a quiet, peaceful afternoon we’re grateful to have shared with each other. Thank you to everyone who joined us, until next time.
